COMING THIS FALL

On Saturday September 26, Phillies Bridge Farm Project, Inc. will sponsor an Art & Silent Auction, at 2:00 p.m.  The purpose of this event is to support our growing adult and children’s education programs, as well as to provide funding for improvement of the farm’s infrastructure. This year we had 25 attendees at our canning and preserving classes and more than 100 children at our summer camp.

BENEFITS OF AUCTION CLEAR OUR PROGRAMS

This year saw the addition of many new educational programs. Most popular of these was “Growing Together,” designed for preschool-age children and their parents. Along with the continued restoration of farm buildings, the farm project opened its educational pavilion, a large covered space which allows programs to continue during inclement weather.  This year we added convertible work/bench tables. Funds for this building and equipment were raised entirely from public donations and from the 2008 auction.

Phillies Bridge Farm currently provides educational programs for schools, food for the needy (Family of New Paltz), and for local food banks (Healthy Start Kingston).

NEW PARTNERS AND OLD CONTRIBUTE ART

Live Auction offerings include paintings from COTA (Celebration of the Arts) Nepal and the Wallkill River School, as well as a significant number of well known artists whose work has been shown locally at the Mark Gruber Art Gallery in New Paltz.  “Art is the harvest at the auction and this year’s bounty has grown in scope and in the quality of its offerings,” says Phillies Bridge President Joe Gallerie.

This year we are featuring many new artists including Kevin Cook, John Varriano, Stacie Flint, Catherine Gray, Marlene Weidenbaum and Masha Massih. In addition, we have received donations from members, including Elizabeth Mowry, internationally known pastel artist, and Kevin Cook, “new” Hudson Valley artist.

YUMM YUMM TREATS

You can taste appetizers and other treats prepared by people who care about food. Artists, board members and volunteers have prepared an array of finger foods to accompany complimentary wine and other beverages.

AND IT’S FREE FOR ALL

The Phillies Bridge Auction will be held Saturday, September 26, Rain or Shine, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the education pavilion on Phillies Bridge Road, just off Route 208 South.  Everyone is invited to bring the family and friends and visit with the farm animals, meet the artists, enjoy some tasty treats, walk the grounds and relax, while bidding on items offered in the Silent Auction. The live Art Auction, featuring Fred Mayo, auctioneer extraordinaire, begins at 3:00 p.m. Every year many happy buyers take home art objects that celebrate the Hudson Valley. All paintings will be on view starting at 1:00 p.m.

MANY NEW AND VINTAGE ITEMS

This year we have added new items to this auction, such as Huguenot Rum, antique furniture, over 20 certificates to local food establishments, rounds of golf, baskets of jams and jellies, outings and again offer organic lamb from our own herd. Special items include a sight seeing flight over the area, lunch at the C.I.A., photo session with Michael Gold and bottles of bourbon, rye and rum from Tuttletown Distillery. There are over 80 items this year.

You can find out more about the Phillies Bridge Farm Project at www.philliesbridgefarm.org (845) 256-9108.
